A while ago this kind of data was used to claim that “truck driver” was the most common job in the US. That was debunked, but even the debunking didn't do a great job of showing the impact of how we group jobs together. The hierarchical view (using the census occupation code list) is somewhat helpful in this respect, I think.

While “Driver/Sales Workers And Truck Drivers” at 1.74% is the largest non-“other”-titled category, you can see that there are significantly more people working at K-12 schools, for example, across various subcategories of teachers.
